Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Team last won the Cricket World Cup in the year 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan. Later in 1999, they qualified for the final in England itself but lost to Australia in the final match. In next edition’s World Cup, they are going to lock horns with West Windies in their first match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Friday, May 31. They will also take on their arch-rivals India in the mega event.

India is scheduled to play Pakistan at the World Cup on June 16 in Manchester, tickets for which have already been sold out. “It is one World Cup game that takes less than 48 to 72 hours to get sold out. It’s not wrong to say India versus Pakistan alone generates half the World Cup revenue,” say those with an industry perspective.

Pakistan Cricket Team Captain for world cup 2019

Q)Who is the captain of Pakistan Cricket Team in 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup?

Sarfraz Ahmed

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have named Sarfraz Ahmed as Pakistan’s captain for the Cricket World Cup 2019. Putting an end to all the speculation surrounding regular captain Sarfraz Ahmed, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani made it official on Tuesday that Sarfraz will also lead Pakistan against Australia prior to the World Cup.

The Pakistani captain was recently handed a four-match ban from ODIs by the ICC over racist comments he made at South Africa’s Andile Phehlukwayo in the recently concluded ODI series. Shoaib Malik was the stand-in-captain in Sarfraz’s absence.

“It is a great honor to join those players who have captained their teams in the World Cup. I feel proud and we will try our best to perform well there.

“I don’t worry about if I would be the team’s captain in a year’s time or not. I focused on my responsibilities on a series-to-series basis and will continue to do so,” he said.

Q) Who is the vice-captain of Pakistan Cricket Team

Asad Shafiq

Chief Selector of Pakistan cricket team Inzamam ul Haq has named Asad Shafiq as vice-captain of the national side, on Saturday.

The announcement came during the press conference at Lahore where the Chief Selector announced 16-member Pakistan squad for Test series against Sri Lanka.

“Even though no bowler has been as successful as Yasir in the Test format, but we had to uphold the standards that were set,” he added.

“Azhar has a cyst in his knee but after taking injections that were prescribed by the doctors, he is fine and can play now,” Inzamam told reporters.

The Pakistani cricket team is the team which never enters any of the World Cup as the favorites to win it but they can not be a corner out either. The most underestimated outfit in cricket, Pakistan could be a world dominator one day and an ordinary pushover on the next side. The current Pakistani ODI team has seen its rise and downs after the victory over India Cricket Team in the Champions Trophy 2017 final in England. The fact that the 2019 World Cup will take place in the same country will give Pakistan hope.

Pakistan cricket’s golden moment came in the year of 1992 where the 40-year old influential captain Imran Khan led the team to a World Cup win. Since the victory over England in Australia 27 years ago, Pakistan has appeared in the World Cup final only once. They were dominated by Australia in the 1999 World Cup final and have not made it to the big stage since.
