Laura Marsh

Laura Marsh

Born in Pembury, Kent, Laura Marsh began playing cricket at 11 and started her career as a medium pace bowler but found greater success when she switched to off-spin. She plays county cricket for Sussex and broke into England’s Test team against India in 2006, before being part of the England team that retained the Ashes in Australia in 2008 and in England in 2009. Marsh aided World Cup and World Twenty20 glory in 2009, taking 5-15 against Pakistan in the former’s group stage. Although bowling is her stronger suit, Marsh hit a maiden international half-century in an ODI versus Ireland in July 2010. Injuries prevented Marsh from representing England for 18 months from mid-2013, when she helped her country win the Ashes on home soil, but she was included in the squad to tour New Zealand in February 2015. Marsh was among the first 18 women’s player to earn an ECB central contract in April 2014 and played in the women’s Ashes series against Australia in mid-2015. In the 2015/16 season, she became the first International cricketer to play for the Lendlease Breakers.
