Pakistan to host T20 Asia cup 2020 in Neutral Venue

Pakistan is all set to host Asia cup 2020 in next year. The Asian cricket Council has awarded the hosting rights to Pakistan in a meeting held today. Pakistan will host the Asia Cup 2020 ahead of Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. The Asian Cricket Council also decided to include Cricket in Asian Games 2022 that will be held in China.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in its meeting in Singapore on Tuesday reasserted its decision to award the 2020 Asia Cup to Pakistan, casting serious doubts on the participation of defending champions India. The tournament, which may be organised in T20 format, will be held in September ahead of the World T20 in Australia.

It was also decided in the meeting that the tournament will be shifted to another venue if diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan do not improve. India had defeated Bangladesh in the final of the previous edition held in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE).

2018 Asia Cup was also held in the United Arab Emirates in September 2018. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be held in India but due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, it was moved to the United Arab Emirates.

The International Cricket turned its back from Pakistan, after a deadly terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan Cricket in 2007 at Lahore. After this terrorist attack, the foreign teams hesitated to come to Pakistan for Cricket matches. However, from the past few year, security conditions have been improved impressively, with Pakistan Super League matches being hosted in different venues.

Two Years ago, World XI Cricket team, also visited Pakistan to play a three match T20 Series against Pakistan. Though, Pakistan won this series with good stats, but world saw desperate cricket fans hungry for international Cricket in that series. This year, 10 matches were held in Lahore and Karachi and Karachi hosted Pakistan Super League 2019 final match. The foreign cricket players expressed satisfaction over the security measurements taken by the local government to ensure the safety of foreign players.

So, after a successful PSL 2019 season in Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council has now awarded the Asia Cup 2020 hosting rights to Pakistan. The Pakistani Cricket fans are already excited for the coming back of International Cricket in Pakistan.

Asia Cup 2020 will be held in Pakistan and India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will participate
