OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Anrich Nortje. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot glancing, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Another strangle down the legside which is backed up by the technology. Good use of the review system from Root to wrap up the game and the series. 3-1 in South Africa is a brilliant effort from this young England side.Super day of Test cricket which see-sawed both ways. First England were on top then South Africa battled back and asked the English camp plenty of questions. Once the partnership between the impressive Rassie van der Dussen and Faf du Plessis was broken though the rest fell like a pack of cards.Hard fought series between two tough teams and now it is all eyes on the white ball arena which starts on the 4th February.

OUT! Run Out. Joe Root to Anrich Nortje. Off break length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, to mid on, fielded by Sibley, by Buttler. Things go from bad to worse for the Proteas. Hug mix-up in the middle as Nortje sprints for the single but his partner is ball watching. Both end up at one end with the ball going to the other.

OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Quinton de Kock. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid off, by Woakes. That's the wicket England were after. It was always going to be nervy while de Kock was at the crease, especially when he's swinging the bat. One shot too mamy though and Woakes takes a simple chance.

Nice touch also from the England players to go up to him and shake his hand. What a man.

OUT! Caught. Dane Paterson to Stuart Broad. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to deep square leg, by Malan. Wicket! Broad departs for 43 after an incredible knock. England end on 400 all out, after the collapse at the end of the first session runs from Woakes, Wood and Broad helped the cause massively. South Africa will be downhearted after that last wicket partnership, they need to keep out the bowlers early on in this innings if they want to have any chance of catching England up.

FOUR! Dane Paterson to Stuart Broad. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs.

4
FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Mark Wood. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past long off for 4 runs. Driven away this time, runs coming thick and fast for these two, South Africa will be very annoyed at this partnership.
93.1

FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Mark Wood. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot Steer, well timed past third man for 4 runs. Four more, this one steered away after Hendricks delivers a half-volley for Wood to attack.

4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Stuart Broad. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past deep cover for 4 runs. Nortje changes to round the wicket and Broad slaps this one away for four through cover, that was vintage Broad, something that has been missing from his game in the last few years.

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Chris Woakes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to second slip, by du Plessis. Woakes out! South Africa need one more wicket, Woakes edges one to Faf who takes it at second slip. Nortje with some quick, full bowling and it does the trick.

4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Chris Woakes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Nicely tucked away by Woakes, England will be looking at 350 here as a good target to set South Africa, especially with Broad in the bowling attack who has fond memories of this ground.
In over# 85
Runs : 0 Bowler: Vernon Philander Wickets : 1
84.5
W
OUT! Caught. Vernon Philander to Jos Buttler. Length ball, outside off stump down the track Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to point, by Elgar. Buttler out! Poor decision from Buttler to go for Philander, no need to do this, he comes down the track and mis-times the shot, Elgar takes a tough catch and England are 8 down.
In over# 84
Runs : 4 Bowler: Anrich Nortje Wickets : 0
83.6
4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Chris Woakes. Back of a length, off stump on the back foot working, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Woakes with a nice shot into the on-side for four, like I mentioned earlier with the new ball the ball will race away no matter what contact the bat makes with it. A few boundaries like that can accelerate England's score and put them in a good position.
In over# 82
Runs : 8 Bowler: Beuran Hendricks Wickets : 0
81.5
4
FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Jos Buttler. Back of a length, down leg side on the front foot driving, outside edge past third man for 4 runs. Four more, another edge, this time a tad finer, through the third man region, good bowling from Hendricks there, but runs are costly for South Africa who haven't batted well this series.
81.3
4
FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Chris Woakes. Half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, thick edge past deep backward point for 4 runs. Woakes with another boundary, Hendricks just misses his length, the half-volley gets put away off the outside edge of the bat, with the new ball comes extra pace which can trouble England, but if the ball is hit with pace on it, it will fly through the field.
In over# 81
Runs : 4 Bowler: Dwaine Pretorius Wickets : 0
80.4
4
NEW BALL. FOUR! Dwaine Pretorius to Chris Woakes. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot working, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. New ball taken and four, lots of runs on offer on this ground, Pretorius misses his line here, a bit too straight to Woakes and he clips it away for four.

4
FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Chris Woakes. In-swinging half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Half-volley from Hendricks with his first ball of his new spell, Woakes with a nice drive down the ground which should give him some confidence against the seamer.

4
FOUR! Dwaine Pretorius to Jos Buttler. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot flick, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. Buttler flicks off his legs for four, slightly too straight from Pretorius, nicely tucked away past fine leg.

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Sam Curran. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Another one! Curran out for a golden! Silly wicket to give away, wide, length ball that should've been left, Curran with an expansive drive straight to de Kock. Collapse from England here, Nortje picks up two in two and South Africa are on a roll.
73.5
W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Joe Root. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Wicket! Root out, two new batters in now and South Africa have taken charge. Root plays a drive with little foot movement, Nortje finds the outside edge and de Kock takes the catch. South Africa have been on top since the drinks break, they've got what they deserved.
73.3
4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Joe Root. Short, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed in the air under control past third man for 4 runs. Root easing the pressure on this partnership with this four, Nortje missing the right line for this bouncer, too far away from Root's head, so he has the ability to upper cut this one over the keeper for four.

4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Jos Buttler. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Buttler off the mark with four, wide, length ball driven beautifully through cover, this is a good scenario for Buttler, in with a set batsman that is rotating the strike well.
69.1
W
OUT! Bowled. Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Out-swinging length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Leave, inside edge to. Pope out! First ball after drinks Nortje strikes, he gets Pope to chop on. Pope wants to leave this ball but is late in doing so, gets an inside edge onto the ball and chops on. Big breakthrough for South Africa as they go searching for wickets in the first session.

FOUR! Dane Paterson to Joe Root. Seaming in back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past third man for 4 runs. Root with a boundary this time, Paterson gets this ball to nip in so it cramps Root up a bit, he does well though to cut the ball past gully for four.

FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs. FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Ollie Pope. Short, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled past deep backward point for 4 runs. Pope with four more, close call from him, he nearly holes out to deep backward point playing an upper cut, Paterson in the deep doesn't pick up the ball early, so takes a step in the wrong direction, if he had of seen the ball early he would've had a chance.

FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Ollie Pope. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep backward point for 4 runs. Pope with another cut, this time off Hendricks, width for Pope to let loose, strikes the ball well, gully can't get a hand to it, so it runs away for four.

4
FOUR! Vernon Philander to Ollie Pope. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past third man for 4 runs. 4
FOUR! Beuran Hendricks to Ollie Pope. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot glancing, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. There is a catcher in place for that, but Pope is in total control of this. Tickled off the hip fine of the leg gully fielder.

47.2
4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Stupendous from Ollie Pope. It doesn't get much straighter than that. A check drive, bunted past the bowler's outstretched boot, and the ball rolls away past the stumps at the non-striker's before hitting the rope.

4
FOUR! Dane Paterson to Joe Root. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Not quick enough to worry Root there. Banged into the pitch, the England captain has plenty of time to lean back, and dispatch it to the mid wicket fence.

4
FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, well timed past long on for 4 runs. Nortje is wide of the crease, angling it into the pads, and Pope does brilliantly here. He turns it away past mid on, and the timing is sublime.

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Ben Stokes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge to first slip, by van der Dussen. Loose drive from Stokes, and the edge loops through to first slip for another catch to Rassie. Not a great shot from the all-rounder. Hadn't got himself in yet and used to the wicket. A lazy drive with not much weight going into the stroke, and he has to go. South Africa are on a roll!

FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Joe Root. Short, outside off stump ducked Leave, top edge in the air uncontrolled past third man for 4 runs. This pitch has had a decent amount of bounce throughout today, but this one has kept quite low. Root wants to get out of the way, but doesn't drop the hands low enough. The ball balloons up off the back of the bat, over the slip corden, and into the fence.

OUT! Caught. Dane Paterson to Joe Denly. Seaming away length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, outside edge to first slip, by van der Dussen. Finally they hold onto one! It's a peach of a delivery from Paterson, and Denly doesn't survive this time. He plays down the line, a bit of nip off the deck, and the edge is taken. The ball loops through to van der Dussen at first slip. It's been a good recovery by the hosts this evening.

FOUR! Dane Paterson to Joe Denly. Seaming in length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, inside edge past fine leg for 4 runs. How has that missed the stumps? Quality delivery from Paterson. He sets Denly up, getting this one to jag back in. It wasn't expected, the Englishman plays down the wrong line, but manages to get a thin inside edge on it. The ball clears middle and leg by a whisker, and runs away to the rope. Lucky.

FOUR! Anrich Nortje to Dominic Sibley. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot flick, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs. The hundred partnership is brought up in style by Sibley. On his hip, and nudged away expertly past the leg gully fielder for four.A perfect session for the away side. When it was overcast at the toss, there were questions about Joe Root opting to bat first, but those have been firmly answered. Zak Crawley notched up his first fifty in the England whites, and Dom Sibley has supported him well. Not much to cheer about for South Africa. Vernon Philander did get Sibley caught at gully, but he overstepped to give the opener a lifeline. Apart from that, the hosts have been poor. What will the evening session bring us?

FOUR! Sam Curran to Dean Elgar. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot working, well timed past deep square leg for 4 runs. Races across the outfield. Nothing more than a turn of the wrists from Elgar but the timing was very nice.

FOUR! Stuart Broad to Pieter Malan. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Confident stride into the ball and presents the full face of the bat.

FOUR! Sam Curran to Dean Elgar. Length ball, down leg side on the front foot pushing, leading edge past third man for 4 runs. How did that go for four? Elgar was looking towards mid on playing with a straight bat and somehow it ended up going behind point.
