OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Anrich Nortje. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot glancing, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Another strangle down the legside which is backed up by the technology. Good use of the review system from Root to wrap up the game and the series. 3-1 in South Africa is a brilliant effort from this young England side.Super day of Test cricket which see-sawed both ways. First England were on top then South Africa battled back and asked the English camp plenty of questions. Once the partnership between the impressive Rassie van der Dussen and Faf du Plessis was broken though the rest fell like a pack of cards.Hard fought series between two tough teams and now it is all eyes on the white ball arena which starts on the 4th February.

OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Quinton de Kock. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid off, by Woakes. That's the wicket England were after. It was always going to be nervy while de Kock was at the crease, especially when he's swinging the bat. One shot too mamy though and Woakes takes a simple chance.

Nice touch also from the England players to go up to him and shake his hand. What a man.

W
OUT! Caught. Dane Paterson to Stuart Broad. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to deep square leg, by Malan. Wicket! Broad departs for 43 after an incredible knock. England end on 400 all out, after the collapse at the end of the first session runs from Woakes, Wood and Broad helped the cause massively. South Africa will be downhearted after that last wicket partnership, they need to keep out the bowlers early on in this innings if they want to have any chance of catching England up.

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Chris Woakes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to second slip, by du Plessis. Woakes out! South Africa need one more wicket, Woakes edges one to Faf who takes it at second slip. Nortje with some quick, full bowling and it does the trick.
In over# 85
Runs : 0 Bowler: Vernon Philander Wickets : 1
84.5
W
OUT! Caught. Vernon Philander to Jos Buttler. Length ball, outside off stump down the track Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to point, by Elgar. Buttler out! Poor decision from Buttler to go for Philander, no need to do this, he comes down the track and mis-times the shot, Elgar takes a tough catch and England are 8 down.
In over# 74
Runs : 0 Bowler: Anrich Nortje Wickets : 2
73.6
W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Sam Curran. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Another one! Curran out for a golden! Silly wicket to give away, wide, length ball that should've been left, Curran with an expansive drive straight to de Kock. Collapse from England here, Nortje picks up two in two and South Africa are on a roll.
73.5
W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Joe Root. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Wicket! Root out, two new batters in now and South Africa have taken charge. Root plays a drive with little foot movement, Nortje finds the outside edge and de Kock takes the catch. South Africa have been on top since the drinks break, they've got what they deserved.

Runs : 0 Bowler: Anrich Nortje Wickets : 1

W
OUT! Bowled. Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Out-swinging length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Leave, inside edge to. Pope out! First ball after drinks Nortje strikes, he gets Pope to chop on. Pope wants to leave this ball but is late in doing so, gets an inside edge onto the ball and chops on. Big breakthrough for South Africa as they go searching for wickets in the first session.

Runs : 0 Bowler: Anrich Nortje Wickets : 1
45.1
W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Ben Stokes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge to first slip, by van der Dussen. Loose drive from Stokes, and the edge loops through to first slip for another catch to Rassie. Not a great shot from the all-rounder. Hadn't got himself in yet and used to the wicket. A lazy drive with not much weight going into the stroke, and he has to go. South Africa are on a roll!
In over# 43
Runs : 0 Bowler: Dane Paterson Wickets : 1
42.2
W
OUT! Caught. Dane Paterson to Joe Denly. Seaming away length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, outside edge to first slip, by van der Dussen. Finally they hold onto one! It's a peach of a delivery from Paterson, and Denly doesn't survive this time. He plays down the line, a bit of nip off the deck, and the edge is taken. The ball loops through to van der Dussen at first slip. It's been a good recovery by the hosts this evening.
In over# 36
Runs : 0 Bowler: Vernon Philander Wickets : 1
35.1
W
OUT! Caught. Vernon Philander to Zak Crawley. Seaming away back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, outside edge to first slip, by van der Dussen. Nicked and gone! Crawley departs. He hangs the bat out, realises his mistake, and tries to withdraw at the last second. It was too late. The ball grazes the outside edge, and flies into the hands of van der Dussen at first slip. After a hefty opening stand, South Africa fight back with a double strike.
In over# 33
Runs : 0 Bowler: Beuran Hendricks Wickets : 1
32.4
W
OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Dominic Sibley. Short, outside off stump on the back foot glancing, inside edge to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Hendricks strikes to give South Africa a much needed breakthrough. A maiden Test wicket for the debutant. Sibley tries to get inside of this and poke it away down to fine leg. It gets too big on him, and the ball brushes the inside edge on the way down the legside. Excellent take by de Kock diving to his left.
In over# 69
Runs : 0 Bowler: Mark Wood Wickets : 1
68.3
W
OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Dane Paterson. Length ball, outside off stump backing away driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Wicket! Paterson out after the four, he backs away for this ball, this time the outside edge goes to Buttler and South Africa are all out for 183. Poor batting display from the home side, the only solid partnership was from de Kock and Pretorius, apart from that, lacklustre from South Africa.
In over# 67
Runs : 0 Bowler: Mark Wood Wickets : 1

W
OUT! Bowled. Mark Wood to Quinton de Kock. Seaming in length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, missed to short leg. De Kock out! Beautiful ball from Wood, getting it to seam in, he gets it through the gate of de Kock and England are one wicket away from a huge first innings lead.

OUT! Caught. Ben Stokes to Dwaine Pretorius. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to gully, by Crawley. Pretorius out! Big breakthrough, Stokes gets the wicket, he bangs one in to Pretorius, makes him uncomfortable and gets a nick to Crawley at gully. Good take by the youngster, England need two more wickets to get South Africa all out.
In over# 43

42.4
W
OUT! Caught. Chris Woakes to Vernon Philander. Back of a length, middle stump on the front foot working, leading edge in the air uncontrolled to extra cover, by Broad. Wicket! England get one early! Philander with a leading edge to Broad. Brilliant start to the day for England, not the best ball from Woakes, Philander was just through his shot way too early.
In over# 42

W
OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Anrich Nortje. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to gully, by Denly. Wicket! That will be the end of the days play as Nortje edges one to Denly at gully. Great day for England with bat and ball, the late cameo by Wood and Broad set the tone for the bowling, South Africa in disarray they trail by 312 with only four wickets remaining. England have taken a commanding lead today, let's see what tomorrow has in store for us.

W
OUT! L.B.W. Chris Woakes to Faf du Plessis. Seaming in length ball, outside off stump on the back foot defending, hit pad to. Wicket! Faf is out LBW, Woakes' ball seams in massively, does Faf all ends up, Rod Tucker straight up with the finger, it looked too high, so Faf reviews, Hawk-Eye shows it's clipping the top of leg so he is out.

W
OUT! Caught. Ben Stokes to Dean Elgar. Seaming away back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to point, by Woakes. Wicket! Elgar gone, very strange dismissal, he gives Woakes a nice, easy catch at point, he just lofts it up to him, I have no idea why he has done that and neither do the crowd who are stunned into silence. South Africa in serious trouble now, three down.
In over# 21

W
OUT! Caught. Sam Curran to Rassie van der Dussen. Seaming away back of a length, down leg side on the back foot defending, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to second slip, by Stokes. W
OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Joe Root. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to gully, by du Plessis. Faf with a superb catch to end the day, he plucks this out of the air at gully. England 248 all out, they lead the home side by 465 runs. Another good day for England, increasing that lead to over 450, which will be almost impossible to chase down, England now have two days to get 10 wickets to win the series 3-1.
In over# 61
Runs : 0 Bowler: Dwaine Pretorius Wickets : 1
60.2
W
OUT! Bowled. Dwaine Pretorius to Mark Wood. Length ball, outside off stump moves in front working, hit pad to. Wood gone! Another good innings from Wood comes to an end, he moved across his stumps, looking to tuck the ball away for a single, completely misses the ball and Pretorius bowls him.
In over# 56

55.6
W
OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Chris Woakes. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot driving, inside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Woakes out now, second ball duck. Inside edge through to de Kock, England 206 for 8 with a lead of 423, not too much to worry about with such a big lead, Wood out next, he should just swing from the hip.
55.4
W
OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Sam Curran. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Paterson. Curran out for a handy 35, he was caught at fine leg looking to pull one for six.

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Jos Buttler. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Wicket! Buttler gone and his poor run of form continues, outside edge to de Kock, poor shot really, playing away from his body which makes it hard to control. England with a solid lead, but they need some more runs you would think, just to rest the bowlers a bit more.
In over# 46
Runs : 0 Bowler: Anrich Nortje Wickets : 1

W
OUT! Caught. Anrich Nortje to Ollie Pope. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Pope out, cutting this one, but it's not far enough outside off for him to cut it away and he gets caught by de Kock for 11. Buttler walks to the crease now with a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
In over# 42
Runs : 0 Bowler: Beuran Hendricks Wickets : 1

W
OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Ben Stokes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to first slip, by van der Dussen. Stokes gone! Edges one to van der Dussen in at first slip for an exciting 28 off just 24 balls. England in a great position here, ideally for them they will see out today, give their bowlers a nice rest and come back tomorrow ready to bowl South Africa out after lunch.

OUT! Caught. Beuran Hendricks to Dominic Sibley. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot working, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid wicket, by Malan. Sibley out for 44, soft dismisal, he looked in good nick, Hendricks gets the wicket, he just works it straight to the man at mid-wicket, he is furious with himself because he had a good chance of cashing in on some runs today.

OUT! Bowled. Dane Paterson to Joe Denly. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, inside edge to. Denly out! The poor run of form continues for Denly as he is bowled by Paterson with his first ball of the new spell, through the gate, Denly gets an inside edge on the ball, then the ball hits the pad and hits middle and off.

OUT! Caught. Dwaine Pretorius to Zak Crawley. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. Out! Just as he drives one for four he gets an outside edge through to de Kock, big breakthrough for South Africa, still lots of work to do for the home side to have any chance of getting something out of this game, but this wicket could be the turning point.

OUT!

OUT! Run Out. Joe Root to Anrich Nortje. Off break length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, to mid on, fielded by Sibley, by Buttler. Things go from bad to worse for the Proteas. Hug mix-up in the middle as Nortje sprints for the single but his partner is ball watching. Both end up at one end with the ball going to the other.

OUT!

OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Vernon Philander. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Not the way Vernon Philander would have wanted to go out. Strangled down the legside as the ball brushes the glove. Every single person at the ground stands and applauds a great career. Nice touch also from the England players to go up to him and shake his hand. What a man.

OUT! Caught. Stuart Broad to Dwaine Pretorius. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Curran. Poor shot in this situation. Plenty of time to get the runs required and he has only faced seven deliveries up until this one. Didn't get the pace of the pitch as he took on the short ball and sent an easy catch down to fine leg.

OUT! Caught. Stuart Broad to Temba Bavuma. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Fended, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. What a beauty. Rising delivery at the body which flicks the glove on its way through to Buttler. Absolutely nothing Bavuma could have done to get out of the way.

OUT! Caught. Mark Wood to Rassie van der Dussen. Length ball, to leg on the front foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to silly mid off, by Broad. Got him! The plan has worked from England, although they would have expected Rassie to get caught on in the deep. Field was set for the short ball but it was the full one which got Rassie tentatively driving on the up. England are pumped up.

OUT! Bowled. Ben Stokes to Faf du Plessis. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, bottom edge to. Whenever England need a spark they turn to one man and he always delivers. Stokes hits a crack and gets the ball to keep low, catching the bottom of the bat. Unfortunate for Faf to drag on after playing so well and dealing with some brutal deliveries. Is that the breakthrough England needed?

OUT! Caught & Bowled. Ben Stokes to Dean Elgar. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, Spliced in the air uncontrolled back to bowler, by Stokes. Short and sharp at the body. Catches Elgar out for a bit of extra bounce and pace off the wicket. Ugly looking stroke as he got into an awful tangle and spliced a simple catch back to the bowler. England needed that after a good couple of overs for South Africa.

OUT! Caught. Chris Woakes to Pieter Malan. Out-swinging half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge to second slip, by Stokes. The drinks break brings about a wicket. Lapse of concentration from Malan after being tempted to go after a full, wide delivery. Touch of swing to take the edge and Stokes does what he does best.
