OUT! Caught. Ben Stokes to Imran Tahir. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot Steer, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to second slip, by Root. Tahir goes first ball, he's guided it straight to Joe Root at first slip. Stokes has two wickets in two balls and England complete a dominant victory here at the Oval. Expectations had been set high but these eleven men sure lived up to them today. After leaving some runs out there with the bat England were electric in the field, setting the tone from the very first ball. Each of the bowlers knew their role and executed their plans perfectly, the pressure proving too much for South Africa in the end. That's all from me at the Oval for today, join us again tomorrow when we'll be at Trent Bridge in Nottingham to see Pakistan take on the West Indies.

OUT! Caught. Ben Stokes to Kagiso Rabada. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, in the air uncontrolled to deep square leg, by Plunkett. Well struck by Rabada but Ben Stokes can do no wrong today and it's gone straight to Liam Plunkett at deep backward square. England have been impressive today.

SIX! Liam Plunkett to Lungi Ngidi. Slower length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. That's a great shot, Ngidi plays with the full face of the bat and lofts the ball straight over the bowler's head and into the stands.

OUT! Caught. Liam Plunkett to Hashim Amla. Off cutter bouncer, outside off stump on the back foot hooking, top edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Banged in short and Amla tried to hook from somewhere above his head. It would probably have been a wide had he not got a little top edge through to Buttler. Amla goes and this game moves closer to its conclusion.

OUT! Caught. Lungi Ngidi to Ben Stokes. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot reverse sweeping, in the air uncontrolled to backward point, by Amla. Stokes tries the reverse shot again (more of a reverse pull if anything) with the men in the offside in the ring but he's hit it straight to Hashim Amla. Even Stokes was finding it difficult to really get hold of the ball there towards the end with there being no pace to work with. I'm sure the coaches in the England camp will be taking note of that.

W
OUT! Caught. Kagiso Rabada to Chris Woakes. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by du Plessis. That is out though, Woakes trying again to give himself room to swing the arms but Rabada angled the ball back into him. Woakes didn't connect well with his shot and Faf du Plessis took his third catch of the day at long on.

W
OUT! Caught. Lungi Ngidi to Moeen Ali. Slower length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, in the air uncontrolled to long on, by du Plessis. That's a great take in the deep by the South African captain diving to his left. Again there's no pace on the ball from Ngidi, his execution has been excellent in this spell. England are not having things all their own way here at the Oval, these last few overs will be very important.

W
OUT! Bowled. Lungi Ngidi to Jos Buttler. Off cutter back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, bottom edge to. Chopped on, the cutter works for Ngidi. He's been taking the pace off a lot, making the batsmen generate their own power. This time the ball gripped in the pitch and came back a bit at Buttler, cramping him for room as he tried to play the pull.

36.5
W
OUT! Caught. Imran Tahir to Eoin Morgan. Leg spinner length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Markram. That's a brilliant catch from Aiden Markram, getting both hands underneath the ball diving forwards. Morgan didn't get that right out of the middle but it still went hard and flat. Morgan becomes the third English batsman to perish in the 50s.
In over# 20
Runs : 0 Bowler: Kagiso Rabada Wickets : 1
19.1
W
OUT! Caught. Kagiso Rabada to Joe Root. Length ball, down leg side on the front foot driving, thick edge in the air uncontrolled to backward square leg, by Duminy. That's out too, two in quick succession for South Africa and Rabada strikes straight away, du Plessis sensing the opportunity and bringing him back into the attack. Not for the first time today a drive comes off a thick edge and goes in the air behind square but, unfortunately for Root, for the first time today it went straight to the fielder.
In over# 19

18.4
W
OUT! Caught. Andile Phehlukwayo to Jason Roy. Short, outside off stump on the front foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid off, by du Plessis. Straight up, Faf du Plessis is underneath it and takes a very easy catch. One flair shot off the front foot too many for Roy who lost control of that one. A big wicket for South Africa who need regular breakthroughs to try and limit England.
In over# 1
Runs : 0 Bowler: Imran Tahir Wickets : 1
W
OUT! Caught. Imran Tahir to Jonny Bairstow. Leg spinner length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by de Kock. What a start for South Africa! The surprise move of opening with Tahir pays dividends immediately. It was a lovely flighted leg spinner. Bairstow was forward defending and the new ball turned just enough to take the outside edge of his bat on its way into de Kock's gloves.

OUT!

W
OUT! Caught. Adil Rashid to Andile Phehlukwayo. Leg spinner length ball, off stump on the front foot slog sweeping, in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Stokes. Oh my word, what a catch. That is probably the catch of the tournament. It might only be game one, but there is no way anyone is topping that. Go out and find a video as you need to see this, incredible.

Runs : 0 Bowler: Jofra Archer Wickets : 1
31.5
W
OUT! Caught. Jofra Archer to Rassie van der Dussen. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid on, by Ali. Morgan throws the ball to Archer and he's delivered again. Four dot balls followed by a bouncer and van der Dussen mis-times a flat-batted shot. The ball loops up in the air and Moeen takes a simple catch. What an impact this man has had with the ball, he's living up to his billing and he looks pumped too.

OUT! Run Out. Liam Plunkett to Rassie van der Dussen. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to deep cover for 1 run, fielded by Stokes, by Morgan. Brilliant quick pick up and throw from Ben Stokes and that looks out. Poor cricket from Pretorious who ended up in a crumpled heap at the bowler's end with Morgan having taken off the bails.

W
OUT! Caught. Moeen Ali to JP Duminy. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long off, by Stokes. There's a man back there at long off and that's straight to him. It looked like Duminy was trying to go wider and hit over extra cover but that's a soft dismissal. Still no sign of Amla and South Africa are in real trouble now.

W
OUT! Caught. Liam Plunkett to Quinton de Kock. Length ball, down leg side on the front foot flick, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Root. Whipped away behind square but it's a long part of the ground and de Kock has picked out Joe Root. That's a big wicket for England, de Kock was starting to look dangerous.
In over# 10

W
OUT! Caught. Jofra Archer to Faf du Plessis. Short, outside off stump on the back foot hooking, top edge in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Ali. That's a top edge, it's high in the air, and taken by Moeen Ali! It's that man Jofra Archer again, the England selectors will be high-fiving somewhere. Again it was the extra pace of Archer which got du Plessis into trouble, he simply couldn't control the shot.

W
OUT! Caught. Jofra Archer to Aiden Markram. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pushing, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to first slip, by Root. Well just as I say that he's out! Jofra Archer has the breakthrough for England. Markram was trying to force the ball off the back foot, it is an area he scores a lot of runs. With the extra pace of Archer though the ball slid off the edge and Root took a sharp catch at slip.
