India Cricket Team Confirm 15 Member Squad

The Most Expected prospects for the position of No. 4 – Ambati Rayudu and young talent Rishabh Pant both were left out from the 15-man squad of 2019 World Cup. In place of Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik will take the charge as the team’s second Wicket-keeper.

The chairman of selectors Committee MSK Prasad after declaring the squad mentioned that the second wicket-keeper will only get a chance to play in case MS Dhoni faces an injury. Keeping this in mind the selection committee decided to pick Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant as the former’s Wicket-Keeper can prove to be handy in crucial encounters.

The side will be led by Captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be the vice-captain of the team. The 15-man squad is a combination of six batsman, four all-rounders, and five bowlers.

The batting unit of the team will be spearheaded by the skipper himself and he will be supported by Opener Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni.

In the bowling unit, the team has opted for three seamers instead of four. Therefore, it makes the role of Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar more crucial as one out of the two will have to step in as the fourth seamer.

Memorable CWC finals

For many, the 1992 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will go down as the greatest tournament in history. This was the first time that the ODI teams would wear their, now standard, coloured kits. It was also the first time that the famous white ODI ball was used. The 1992 final saw Pakistan take on England at Melbourne’s MCG in front of nearly 90,000 passionate cricket fans. Inspired by Imran Khan and Javed Miandad, Pakistan set England a target of 250, which proved too much for Graham Gooch’s team.

England were involved in yet another memorable World Cup final Winners, this time at Eden Gardens in Calcutta in 1987. Facing off against their historic rivals Australia, England came agonisingly close to clinching their first title, but missed out by just 7 runs. This meant that the trophy went to the Australians, making it their first CWC triumph. Since then, the Australians have not looked back and have gone on to win a further 4 Cricket World Cups, including the last one in 2015. Book your place at Lords and be in the stands cheering on the Cricket World Cup – Final teams, whoever they may be. Get your tickets for the ICC world cup final here today at StubHub.

Cricket World Cup – Final winners

The most successful team in the history of the Cricket world cup is Australia.
