ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Opening Ceremony to be held in London today

Opening ceremony of the ICC World Cup 2019 will be held in London today. Scheduled to begin from Thursday (30 May) to 14th of July, ten teams are participating in the World Cup tournament. The group stage will see all the teams play in a round-robin league, with the top four teams qualifying for the semifinals.

Opening match of ICC Cricket World Cup, host England will face South Africa at London on Thursday. India first match of ICC Cricket World Cup will play against South Africa on Wednesday (06-June).

Recently, the ICC officials and the security personnel of England like the London Safety Advisory Group (LSAG) and the Royal Parks held meetings to finalize the safety and planning of the event. The event would attract a huge crowd, the safety of which would be a very big task.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will commence from May 30th when England takes on South Africa at Kennington Oval, London. The next match of the tournament would also be played at the same venue between Pakistan and West Indies, both of whom would like to improve their performances from their last world cup outings. The final of the tournament, which would last more than a month, would be played on 14 July at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

ICC Launches ‘Criiio’ Campaign on Eve of Cricket World Cup 2019

With an aim to celebrate the magnificent diversity of cricket, ICC has launched the ‘Criiio campaign’ on the eve of Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, played in England and Wales. The sport brings together 460 million people, who are playing cricket globally. The world cricket body has asked the fans to join the social cricket tribe by sharing pictures and videos of where and how they play cricket across the world using the newly launched #criiio and visiting criiio.com.

This builds on the success of the recent user-generated social media initiative #WorldWideWickets and is the first of a series of programs that will be launched by the ICC over the next 12 months.

“On the eve of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup which brings together the best ten teams and players in the world, we want to celebrate the nearly half a billion fans playing social cricket around the world,” said ICC Chief Executive, Manu Sawhney.

“Criiio is a celebration of everyone playing cricket their way and world cricket wants to invite them into the criiio tribe. Cricket is for everyone, it is inexpensive, engaging, simple and fun, and we want to share all the different ways that the game is being played.”

Around the world, hundreds of millions of fans are playing cricket the way they like to on the beach, in a carpark or gully or their backyard. Criiio is a celebration of all the brilliant and unique ways people play the game which can be played anywhere, by anyone and at any time.

The ICC World Cup begins Thursday with a clash between South Africa and England.
