As expected, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is a part of the England-bound squad. With the number four spot sparking most debates on its contention, it is KL Rahul who will be taking the place. Today ICC Puts an End to the months of speculation and guesses, the selection committee of 05 members headed by MSK Prasad today on 15th April Declared the national 15 Member squad of India for the upcoming World Cup to be held in Foreign soil England, starting 30 May.
While skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, M.S. Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah selected as expected on the back of some most consistent performances in recent matches, there were three main areas of concern that the selectors always needed to take a decision on.
Dinesh Karthik(DK) got selected over young boy Rishabh Pant in the competition to become the second optional wicket-keeper in the Indian Cricket team. Vijay Shankar being a lucky man got the opportunity to play in the team 4 number batsman and Ravindra Jadeja is picked as the third spinner ahead of a fourth pacer. KL Rahul joins in as the back-up opener
The management and selectors Indian team have often spoken a lot about continuity and consistency and that is exactly what they have done with regards to the team for the 2019 cricket World Cup. Having tried Vijay Shankar at the top of the preference, they backed him in the 15 member squad. The fact that Shankar continued to bat at position three or four in this season of the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) was another clue that the team management had asked him to settled down to the idea of batting at the top.
The much-debated and argued number four slot, whether Rishabh Pant or Dinesh Karthik Would be choosen as the second wicket-keeper behind MS Dhoni and finally, if the team pick a fourth pacer or an additional third spinner considering that the wickets will be on the slower side at this time of the year in England.
In the bowling side too, it was a clear case of supporting an in-form ravidra Jadeja because not only has he performed good for (CSK)Chennai Super Kings, but also, Ground Condition predictions are expected to be on the slower side in during the showpiece event. Most importantly, Ravidra Jadeja brings with him solidarity at the lower end of the batting and not to forget his perfection on the fielding side.
Dinesh Karthik got selected over Pant as the second wicket-keeper’s place. Even though Dinesh Karthik failed to do much in the 12th season of the IPL league, the Indian team management had already Mentioned they aren’t looking at it
Hardik Pandya missed the series against team Australia, due to issues with his core is back and fits in as the all-rounder who will also be look for Some Big Hits.
